Accountant
Job Definition
Accountant is responsible for managing financial reporting, tax compliance, and accounting operations for the Indian entity. Key tasks include handling closings, payroll, payments, audits, and intercompany transactions while ensuring adherence to local and international accounting standards. The role also supports budgeting and serves as a liaison with auditors and tax advisors.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting for India.
- Ensure proper and timely monthly reporting to the parent company.
- Conduct monthly/quarterly reconciliation on intercompany invoices with affiliated entities.
- Assess and recommend write-offs for uncollectible accounts in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Implement dunning processes to manage overdue accounts effectively.
- Manage and facilitate approval workflows for supplier invoices, ensuring proper authorization and adherence to internal controls.
- Coordinate and execute timely payments to suppliers and employees.
- Oversee payment processes, including electronic funds transfers and wire transfers, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Process travel expense reports in line with company travel policies and accurately record expenses.
- Accrue outstanding expenses to ensure financial statements accurately reflect liabilities.
- Handle personnel cost accounting treatments (payroll, variable postings, etc.) and reconcile payroll transactions in the general ledger.
- Manage fixed assets and reconcile them in compliance with accounting standards.
- Address local GAAP differences to German GAAP (HGB).
- Fulfill reporting obligations to local financial authorities and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Manage timely tax filings (monthly/quarterly/annual) for India, ensuring compliance with withholding tax, VAT, and intercompany transactions under transfer pricing rules.
- Monitor changes in tax regulations and provide updates to stakeholders.
Coordinate budgeting processes, monitor fiscal spending, and support financial forecasting. - Act as the point of contact for local external accountants, internal and external auditors, and tax advisors.
- Handle external audits and ensure all audit requirements are met.
Compile and provide legal entity-specific German GAAP notes and appendices during the year-end process. - Fulfill local statistical requirements as needed.
- Perform other related duties or tasks as required.
Job Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; MBA or professional finance/accounting qualification is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a multinational company is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of Indian accounting principles, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with International Accounting Standards (IFRS), German GAAP (HGB), and ASEAN accounting standards is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in financial management software, bookkeeping software, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred).
Language Skills
- Fluency in English and Hindi (written and spoken).
- Proficiency in German or other ASEAN languages is a plus
